I don't recall seeing the name of the tree or age. But it is impressive big and old. It is short walk around a bit and I went to the shore and walk on the bicycle for a while. Lot of shells there!
Protect him at all costs!
Sad to see so many hang on the branches causing the tree to become not-so-big. But this tree has legacy and power, and it's wonderful to be around and see it from all angles.
The surrounding trees are beginning to take over, and the area is breezy and tranquil.
Took my pup to see the big tree. Really cool area surrounding the tree. Worth checking out if you happen to be driving by.
It's a cute park, but small. There's a walking path around the tree and a more open area for the kids to run in front of the parking area. It's about 1/4 mile or less from the beach, though. Definitely a walk-able distance, even with a 5 and 10 year old.
I have seen it a few times and it still is so cool to be able to just walk up too. Such an interesting and huge tree. Yeah it's just a tree, but man it's cool. And also, a great little break spot just to walk around for a bit and stretch your legs!
Gorgeous!!! I love we had a break in this secluded area. I would have a 5 * if there were more public space immediately surrounding it. I would also love a better presentation on big / old this tree is. Beware of mosquitoes, We were massively attacked in the middle of the day at the end of November.
The Big Tree is part of Goose Island State Park. The tree is estimated to be between 1000-2000 years old. Pretty cool spot to take some pics. You can’t get too close to “The Big Tree” because they have it fenced off but there are several other giant Live Oaks around it that you can. Definitely worth a stop.
This place was so beautiful. I took photos for my website. Would recommend going early morning for photos since their are not many people their and you can play with the lighting.
